Unique Quilting Classes Offered to Enhance Skills
Tucker University Classes offered by Mary, will help you increase your piecing and block making accuracy and gradually move to more challenging projects. You will begin with basic blocks then progress to the Hunter’s Star, Le Moyne Star and then more complicated star designs during the last six months. A handout is available at the front counter or it can be emailed to you.
Clothing Classes Offered
Lorraine Gruys, our favorite tailor, is back to teach Frankie Shirt, a stylish loose fitting blouse, and Myeziest Vest which lends it self to Oriental or Southwest fabrics. Samples are in the store. Theses are two of our most popular clothing patterns. Lorraine’s classes fill up quickly so sign up soon.
Bags, Purses and Tote Classes
Our bag, tote and purse classes continue to be popular. This quarter we offer Easy Does It Zippered Bag with Cindy Barfield, which is for toiletries or sewing supplies. For a larger bag try her Open Wide Bag. Modern Japanese Rice Pouch is a small bag with draw string pulls offered by our tote and bag expert, Regina Boyer. She also has Princess Bag with a tailored but casual look. Louise Heine’s back with her Cell Phone/Travel Purse.
Classes for All Skill Levels
Cedar Mills is a new offering by Louise Heine that meets monthly to create a stunning quilt. Braided Twist, with Lisa Van De Graaff, uses a template to create a curvy table runner. Faster Fourteen with Sue Clarkson uses fat quarters to create a colorful quilt. Feng Shui, with Lynn Singer, is a great class for beginners. Fran Holden is back with her popular Blue Onion, a quilt that uses curves to create a great design as well as Spin Cycle, for intermediate quilters, which uses the same oval curve template. Cindy offers Tiny Dresden Scrap Sensation and Dresden Village as well as Making a T Shirt Quilt. Her Modern Dahlia is an intermediate appliqué piece using Apliquik Rods and point tricks from Karen Kay Buckley. You will love learning this system.

New Free Motion Template Classes
Cindy has become an expert at this type of quilting. She offers both a Beginner Class, which requires you to attend a free demo before beginning and also has an Intermediate Template Class for graduates of the the Beginner Class.

Lots of New Oriental Fabrics Have Just Arrived!
For those of you who like oriental fabric, we have more beautiful bolts in stock than we have ever had. We picked many new bolts to be delivered throughout winter and spring, but our suppliers sent them to us all at once. It's almost like a late Christmas! These are stunning dark and light textured prints, suitable for vests, clothing and quilts. Come check them out. More from other suppliers are expected soon too, including the newest by Yoshiko Jinzenji, a Kyoto designer.
Batiks and Other Fabrics Coming
We have numerous batiks and prints coming during the next few months including Hoffman, Robert Kaufman, Island Batik and Northcott’s new Banyan Batiks. Also coming are brights, whites, florals and other lines. Recently arrived are new Kaffe Fassett florals. We also have lots of jelly rolls and Bali Pops. Steampunk Halloween fabric is due in March. Come see our new layer cakes.
New Patterns Are Now Available
Our newest patterns are kept in a basket on our lower cutting table. Among the newest are Norte (Stars) by Alison Glass and Four Squared (fat quarter friendly. We also have new clothing patterns including Hooded Orknot Coat, dress, tops, blouses and other apparel patterns.
Clip on Lights Brighten Hand Work
Check out our new lights that clip on your glasses to make it easier to see your stitches or read a book. These lights follow where you look. No more adjusting a clip on light that is in the way! Perfect for airplane flights and tying flies!
Sashiko Classes Offered
We have beginning Sashiko classes in both February, March and April. Leatrice Armstrong teaches this form of Japanese country stitching. These decorative stitches can be used on quilts, clothing, bags or other household items.

Join this club and meet monthly learning new ways to use the monthly bundle of batik fat quarters. A small membership fee allows you to attend the monthly lessons free. Sign up at the front counter and learn all about it.
