- Mary McCusker - This is a multi-month class that focuses on accuracy in piecing and making blocks that are accurate. Over the year we will start with basic traditional blocks, add more skills, learn Hunter’s Star, Le Moyne Star by month 6 and move on to more complicated star designs for the last 6 months. This will build your piecing confidence and along the way you will experiment with block design and composition. You can make practice blocks only or work on a few quilt tops along the way. You need to have taken Beginning Machine Piecing or be a confident beginner before signing up. Hand out at the front desk with pictures. You can miss classes occasionally, but skills build with each class. Makeup classes are possible with enough students.  Class I: Half Square, Quarter Square Triangles, Combination Units, Shaded Four Patch (Mary’s Block), Class II: V block, Class III: Square on point unit to mix and match with prior units made. It is better if you attend the classes consecutively but if you are unable it will not prevent you from learning the next month’s block unit. By month 6 we are working on Hunter’s Star. There is a handout at the front desk, or it can be emailed if you want further details and pictures.
