Katie has created a new class “From Watercolor Painting to Masterpiece Quilt.” This is a class suitable for beginning to advanced art quilters, but students don't need painting experience to succeed. This 2 day class has you trying 10 different design procedures in your chosen color-way. These include transparent layered shapes, tape resists, rubber cement drawing resist, washes, glazing, dropping in of colors, surface treatments ( soap bubbles, rubbing alcohol, and masque pen) grids, etc. One painting will be chosen and cropped to find the most dynamic part of the painting. This will be drawn to make templates. That evening Katie will take them to be enlarged. The second day will be spent translating the brush strokes to and with fabrics into a quilt using her turned edge technique or any technique you would like. When the quilt is done it will look like the watercolor painting.
This will be a demanding two days but also invigorating. If you have previously taken Katie’s “Painted Stitched Canvas” class, you could continue revamping some of your designs from that class. Class will be Saturday, September 8 and Sunday, September 9.
Fee: $320 for two days
