Quilting Classes Offered

We have lots of new classes this quarter to interest beginner, intermediate and advanced quilters. One Fabric Kaleidoscope by Jason Yenter, in two color ways, is offered by Jean Callaghan. Deb Martinez’s Keyboard Kaleidoscope uses kaleidoscope blocks to create a large quilt.  Deb also offers Kittens, an animal quilt. One Step at a Time, a geometric quilt using Southwest colors, and Wall Savvy, a triptych wall hanging or table runners, are offered by Louise Heine. Labyrinth Walk, a three-dimensional look, is an all day class with Cindy Barfield. She also offers London Nights, a modern quilt, and Talking Points.  Kathy Tolbert has Floorboard & Nails and Elegant Flying Geese.  Row by Row Junior Rover, uses this year’s pattern and is offered by Julee Coffman as is Antelope Canyon, a Laurie Shifrin pattern. Mary is offering Collage, using Laura Heine’s fabulous patterns. Navajo No Scraps, a Southwest table runner,  is offered by Louise Heine. Le Adams has Driftwood, a scrap quilt.

New Block of the Month Classes

Square in a Square Sampler begins Mon., Aug 21, with Louise. It uses the  Square-in-a Square Ruler to create different blocks each month.  Santa Fe Triptych, Kathy Tolbert’s stunning Southwest wall hanging,  begins in August. and Epicenter, with Mary,  starts in September.

Clothing Classes  Free Demos

Myeziest Vest offered by Carolyn Randle, will help you make a unique vest that is unlike any you have made before.  Carolyn also offers Nonaim Coat, a swingy jacket for all seasons and Twirly Batik Skirt, perfect for summer.

Perfect Stems Demo: Learn how to create perfect appliquéd stems with this new tool: Cindy, 1:30 p.m, Wed., 7/13 & 1:30 p.m. Sat., 9/9.                                

Crayon on Fabric with Embroidery: Deb shows you how to apply crayon to your fabric to enhance embroidery. Wed., Sep 6, 1:30 p.m.  Sign up across from the register to attend these demos.

Purse and Bag Classes

Open Wide Bag with Cindy, creates a roomy bag with lots of zippered pockets. 

Cell Phone/Travel Purse with Louise is a nifty little bag for your cell phone or driver’s license, and cash or credit cards.

New Patterns and Books                         

Helix by Crazy Old Ladies is one of our newest patterns.  We also have Marcia Layton’s Yo Yo Accent Wild West towel pattern.  For stitchers we have Crab Apple Hill’s Stitch Heart Sampler. For wool, try Snow Buddies Table Mat.  New books include: Quilts from the House of  Tula Pink; Simple Sashiko and a full range of Kaffe books.

New Fabrics Include Holiday Themes

Jason Yenter’s Winter Twist, which includes white poinsettias and Christmas greens is due in July as is Robert Kaufman’s metallic Holiday Flourish. Red Dot Green Dash holiday quilt kits by Me & My Sister are in.  In August we will receive  kits featuring hummingbirds.  We have Northcott’s Artisan Spirit City Scene, an impressionistic fabric line, arriving in September.  We just received Hoffman Bali 2.5 inch strips in 20 piece packs. A variety of batik bolts arrive monthly.              

Sashiko, Embroidery & Fancy Stitching 

Sashiko, which is Japanese country thread work is offered by Lea Armstrong.  Beginning Embroidery, is offered by Marianne Udell, a skilled teacher.  Be Still My Heart, with Deb, includes appliquéing hearts, beading and silk ribbon and floss embroidery.                                                                                                                      

PIGS a Success!                                                                            

Seven quilters finished a total of 22 quilts in our Projects In Grocery Sacks (PIGS) which ended June 30. We awarded $5 gift certificates for each completed project. For more details go to our Facebook page.
